We are the Ouseburn Folk Choir, a community choir based at The Cumberland Arms in Byker.
Born from a love of folk music and harmony singing. As a choir, not only do we sing for the love of it, but we love performing too and do several concerts a year.
FAQs
I've never sang before. Can I join?
Absolutely! We welcome singers of all abilities, from those with loads of experience in choirs, and those who've only sung in the shower. We don't audition either!
I don't read music. Can I join?
Of course you can! We do use sheet music for most songs, but we also teach it by ear and recordings are provided to listen to at home.
Do you accept walk-ups?
I'd love to be able to, but we are very busy, and for the last few terms, have been fully booked, with a waiting list to join. This means we can't accept walk-ups unfortunately!
How do I join?

PAYMENT OPTIONS
We operate on a tiered payment system. This is designed to make the choir sustainable for me, whilst also being accessible to more people. The idea is that those who can afford to, pay for the whole term up front, and those who can't, pay weekly. We also have a full price option and a low income/ student option. These will be the prices this term:
Cash or bank transfer accepted - I won't be taking payments until the start of the new term.
Full Price:
Option 1 - pay for term - £75 (15 weeks)
Option 2 - pay for half a term - £38 (7.5 weeks)
Option 3 - pay weekly at £5 per session
*all cash payments must be in an envelope with your name written on, and the amount inside (otherwise its hard for me to keep a track of!)
Discounts
Student/low income discount
Option 1 - pay for term - £60 (15 weeks)
Option 2 - pay for half a term - £7.5 (5 weeks)
Option 3 - pay weekly at £4 per session
Unfortunately, I can't offer any refunds.*
Choir runs every Monday except those listed above. Occasionally the Cumberland Arms might book in a gig on a Monday at short notice meaning we'll not have a session that day. If you've paid for the full term, You can carry that money forward to be used in the following term. *I will be able to offer a refund for these sessions if you aren't continuing into the next term.
