Janice Burns is a folk singer and mandolin player from Glasgow, now based in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Her distinct style of delicate, spacious mandolin playing mixed with rich vocal harmony have gained her a reputation as a sought after collaborator in the music scene, having worked with artists such as Maddie Morris, Ceitidh Mac, Balter, and Jayne Dent (Me Lost Me). Current collaborations include long standing duo with Jon Doran, and feminist-trad quartet ‘RE:VULVA’ with Amy Thatcher, Cathy Geldard and Holly Clarke.
In September 2022, Janice started the Ouseburn Folk Choir as a means to engage with her love of harmony singing, writing vocal arrangements and building community. In addition to this, she runs workshops and offers private tuition in mandolin. enquire here
